I have been a patron of Cassis for a long time now and over and above regular visits I always purchase for occasions in our family. I always Associated incredible and unfaltering quality with all of their product offerings but I can sadly say that the quality standard is dropping. I purchased a few items. The 3 Success variants that I bought were not fresh at all. The nutty topping tasted stale and the berry filling was in the form of a thick expired jam patty. This is actually my favourite dessert and it is definitely not what I’m used to. I had to throw the others for fear of getting put off completely from my favourite desert but I honestly don’t feel I’ll be going back considering that I can no longer associate unquestionable quality control. This really makes me sad

In my never ending quest for croissants, I came across this 'patisserie'. To say I was excited is an understatement. The bright purple hues with the faux macaroons had me hooked - I simply had to go inside to buy something. The prices were a bit steep, but I threw caution to the wind and bought a plain croissant, pain au raisan, almond croissant and chocolate croissant. The croissant was doughy and tasted old, the chocolate croissant tasted "fresher" but not as delicious as I had hoped. The pain au raisan tasted great and the almond croissant was surprisingly delicious! I'm not a fan of almonds but it tasted delicious. With regards to the store, I felt like I was hassling the shop assistants by asking them what the items were; everything was not clearly labeled, forcing you to ask what the different items were. I went back the next day and the croissants looked fresh and tasted marginally better. Overall, this place was hit and miss. One day the croissants are old, the next day they're fresh. You're not sure what you're going to get, but for that price quality has to be guaranteed. I paid good money for that croissant, when Woolies sells it for half the price and it tastes better. I will only go back once the reviews are better. P. S: I don't mind eating old croissants, IF they are discounted. I would rather buy them knowing they are stale and you would hate to waste them, than being disappointed with the quality. As far as that Paris feel they were going for, it was nonexistent.

Bought a pie, and then when I asked to warm it, i was told your microwave was broken. What's the point? Get your microwave fixed or dont sell pies right? Anyway, the cold pie had about a teaspoon of filling, saying tablespoon would be generous.

Not as good as it used to be when Patrice Moreau owned it... Update 17 Nov 2019: Having bought an excellent baguette on 2 occasions during the past month, today (Sunday), I thought it's time for another. Well, by around lunchtime they were (again!) sold out, as I had found on some recent weekday visits. The salesperson said "only 15 were delivered today, but we asked for more". Anyway, the only bread left was a so-called 'ciabatta', which I regrettably bought for R35! It was such an awful bread that I later had doubts as to whether it was baked by Cassis. In short, it was the worst 'boulangerie' bread I have ever eaten! Actually, I am ANGRY about this! Wake up, owner... wake up! Cassis is not what it used to be... When Patrice Moreau owned Cassis it was trés bon. The patisserie products look rather sad too...

I haven't tried anything else but strawberry vanilla cake which is amazing! I can't get enough of it!

Bought two almond croissants that were completely raw inside! I can't believe they would even put them on their shelves. Very disappointing and very expensive lesson: Don't shop here.

Worst macaroons ever. Very expensive, and all tasted the same, only in different colour. Rough texture and zero flavor. Service also very sullen. Don't recommend at all. Stay away
