Would prefer to have even rated one *. Already been here for 6 hours. It is embarrassing how badly this department is run. Since they opened only 3 counters have been occupied. I would imagine that if Gigaba wasn't in bed with zuma, home affairs could afford to employ more people. To renew a UK passport you do online and it gets posted to you. Big difference in a 1st world country.

Be prepared to spend some time there for passport/ID application, that said, staff were organized with the queuing system and helpful once you get served. You do need to arrive early, from 5.30am to be near the front of the queue. Popped in just before they closed on Friday afternoon to pick up Smart ID and passport and I was out within 30mins
Very friendly and helpful staff. Efficient queuing system. In and out in half an hour after applying online for a new passport.
Service not too bad. The premises clean as is the toilets.
Be prepared to spend your day there.
