My review is long overdue - 13 years to be precise. My father stayed- and died here in 2007. Of course he would have preferred to keep on living and dying in his own home, but sadly that was not to be. He was never going to be an ideal retirement home candidate, but he was well looked after here. Neither my late father nor I were easy customers to deal with, but both of us were dealt with compassionately and humanely until the day he died - and beyond. Which brings me to the following: as an only child and single mother, there was absolutely no way in which I would be able to feed the masses who, having sadly been absent during his stay in Uitsig, would descent en masse on the church service held for him at the home and the inevitable after-party. I have decided to make sandwiches and delivered it to the home on the day before the funeral. On the day of the funeral, I have found the table beautifully laid and my meagre offering being replaced by a beautiful spread of sandwiches, small pastries and freshly-baked cakes made by Uitsig staff, for which they have refused to accept any reimbursement from me.

The staff in magenment is very rude, unkind, unprofessional and just overall have a bad attitude. I do not like the way they talk to the elderly.
Staff not the most friendly and accommodating. Some members of staff can not work with old people, and need serious training. Parking is a problem.

The home away from home for the seniors. They cater for all. From disabled to wheelchair. Big sickbay. Very caring and friendly staff.
It seems the elderly gets taken well care of here. Staff was very friendly. Nice clean setup. The elderly all seemed in good spirit.
