I was there this past weekend at the Golden Valley glamping camp sites.. On arrival at the tent I was met by a big field mouse... This put me off immediately... Apparently there is a problem with mice there. A mouse was actually crawling over one of our family members in one of the tents while being asleep in the middle of the night. . What put me even more off was that this mouse was running all over the kitchen utensils... So I didn use the kitchen at all. So u arrive there unsuspecting that all these things are happening.. The pics that are posted on the website is actually deceiving... Place is run down. Don't still mention our bathroom. I expected better... I mean really... Should we have paid the full price I would demand some of my money back.. I think this place is overrated.. And over charged.... Never again for me... Sorry to say...

We spent the past weekend in 2 of their neighbouring villas. it would have been a perfect weekend away had it not been for the following things. 1. The total lack of on site security: no reception on entrance. No visible security. Nobody to keep unwanted people out or keep us safe inside. 2. The owner, Werner, was completely rude when he spoke to one of our party about the thefts that happened on site Saturday night. His total lack of empathy and disregard for our safety was baffling. He hung up mid conversation and basically said, "too bad, so sad , these things happen". No, "is everyone ok?" or " has anyone been hurt?" 3. The river was impossible to swim in and also a major slipping hazard. defs not safe for kids to go exploring. 4. there is nothing glamorous about the bathrooms on the walking paths. the doors do not lock and blow open while you're handling your business- so uncool. 5. the broken braaistand and the wet wood that was sold to us. luckily the 2nd villas braaistand was in tact. can you imagine sitting by the firepit in a cloud of smoke that chokes you? not pleasant at all. and finally, #6 Around midnight, multiple people at multiple villas were targeted and robbed of valuables by people who "broke into" ( or just walked onto the unsecured property) from outside. The police were called and were very helpful and kind. We were all in a state because we had small kids and a pregnant woman asleep in the tents that were ransacked. The what ifs were endless and kept us all on high alert and unable to sleep the entire night. As amazing as this place looks on pictures, I would 100% NOT recommend that you go here. It's unsafe and the I don't care attitude of the owner was just the worst. Had he handled the situation like a decent human being, we would have felt differently about the entire experience. It's's a HELL NO from me. PS: The WiFi is also terrible.... When I say terrible, I actually mean non existent.

1) The signpost from the main road can be better. 2) The "front office" is non-existent, so you have to guess where you are going. 3) The "villas" are less than 15 metres apart, so be prepared to hear all your neigbours' conversations; especially after 10pm when the wine has flowed freely. 4) Take your own wood if you can, they charge R3 per piece! 5) The organising of the body-boarding was a bit of a disaster, the guide was an hour late and decided to alter the route so that we traversed from villa 10 to Noordhoek where the river was so shallow in some areas that we had to try and walk over the slippery rocks with the flippers on! At some stage we had to ask the locals how to get to Noordhoek. 6) A shout-out though to Anywhere, the manager of the resort; together with the comfortable beds are the only plusses I could give the resort.

We got lost along the way, I feel like they need to put up a sign where the turn off to The Baths is so that people know how to get there. the staff were friendly and accommodating, beautiful views and the river was amazing. The Ablution block that we needed to use to shower and use the toilet wasn't in the best condition but we were camping so it was acceptable to be "roughing it" a bit. will definitely go back again.
