It's lovely and neat, was such a great experience going on a weekday as there were not many people there so there was plenty of room to move around and sit and also plenty of amenities for the kids who absolutely loved the play area and the animals at the zoo. A bit wary of caged animals, Mitchell's Park can do better than keeping caged animals animals

This is a good place to take the kids for the day on a budget. For only R13 it's definitely worth a visit. A couple of the enclosures were empty and the reptile center was closed, but otherwise the place is fairly well maintained.

A very beautiful park. A nice place to come and relax with friends and family or a nice romantic picnic with your love one. Play area for kids with swings etc. Plenty of seats available. Beautiful garden for the photogenic ones. Vendors available inside, restaurants available with plenty of room to seat and enjoy your drinks and snacks.

We enjoyed our delicious breakfast at Blue Zoo, which is still a lovely, well maintained restaurant with a great play area for the little ones. Having grown up in this area, and been a frequent visitor to Mitchell Park throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's, I was disappointed to see the neglect of the gardens and zoo. There are weeds and long grass everywhere and many of the animals and birds need a serious upgrade of their enclosures. The Parrots and monkeys have absolutely no greenery in their bare cages, and this upset me!! Mitchell Park has always been a wonderful place for families and children so please hire a good manager and clean it up and restore it to its former glory!

It is such a beautiful place to have a picnic with your family and lovely animals to see. There are a few cages where are overgrown which needs some TLC.

This is not a huge park, but it's well maintained. It has a restaurant with out door seating and a small zoo. It's quite busy on weekends but pretty quiet during the week. So if you are lucky enough to work flexible hours is a place to take a stroll or have a picnic. Just watch out for the monkeys...there are tons of them. I always go with a water bottle, incase they get to feisty.

Lovely atmosphere. Kid friendly. I had the salmon Benedict, my parents had the garden breakfast. Both were good. My little one had the kiddies breakfast and she enjoyed it
