Only a statute, but as all attractions in PE, it is not kept in good condition. But it is a save area and a 5 minute stop.

Please do more for the monument!!
It's in memory of the horses that served and died during the Second Boer War, where Britain brought a large number of horses to South Africa.
Lots of homeless people sleeping next to the monument.
This is not technically about the Horse Memorial, but about a hawker that can be found close by, only occasionally. I am totally fascinated by this woman - Betty - who occasionally sells mealies from her Merc. So I stopped and had a chat to her today. Turns out she's originally from Zim, but drives through from G-Town when she has stock - which is supplied by local farmers in the area. At R11 for a massive mealie, it's worth popping in to support her efforts. You can find her on the corner of Rink Street and the little slip road opposite the Engen garage in Central - just before the Horse Memorial. Previous reviews on this site have mentioned the dodginess of the area. Please be on the lookout for thugs and hooligans and keep valuables hidden.
It is only big of humans to acknowledge the contribution of animals that had no choice in fighting human wars. It is important to view and reflect.
Just any open place
I was very impressed with the security measures at the play park, my daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself.
