To describe the experience: My daughter was beyond stunned after we were in and out in less than 30 minutes. She had no idea that it could be done having never experienced service like that. In comparison to my local Home Affairs trip a month before where I had to arrive at 05h30 just to make sure that I got a place in the queue then left 4 hours later with no idea when or if I will ever get the documents that I need.

I came over to renew both my Passport and Identity Card but the Consulate Manager changed the rules and us clients can only renew either and not both simultaneously. This means that one has to do two trips to the Consulate. This doesn't make sense in the time of the Covid-19 Pandemic that the manger would allow twice the amount of movement in his Consulate, when we are supposed to "flatten the curve", "keep our distance", and not travel unnecessarily. Thus, putting his Consulate employees and the larger community at risk of potentially getting infected by Covid-19. There was another lady, a mother of two boys, who also came over today to renew both their passports and Identity Cards, same situation as me, and were told right there that they can only renew one of the two. They, like me, were not informed about this.

Such a pleasure going there compared to 10 years ago. Staff are all super friendly, helpful and very approachable. You don't wait in long queues either. We had a very pleasant experience getting all our documents processed. Claudia from OS Migration is also highly recommended as she made it all possible and smooth!

Do not go to the Consulate. They turn you away at the door. You need to do an online booking. The online booking is quite complicated. I still haven't got through yet. Very worried. I will have to go through an attorney to try translate the online system. Portuguese folks are having a bad time trying to get help here. I will be trying to go to another city's consulate. Hope that they do not turn me away as well. Otherwise fly to Portugal and try some help there.
