A great place to spend outdoors. Security at the gate are very pleasant to deal with, observing social distancing & wearing face masks. The garden area where you can sit & picnic is very well maintained. The hiking trails are great too. An absolute pleasure to be there.

Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve is my personal happy place. It is serene and calm. The reserve is well kept and safe. It also has many trails that range from beginner to advanced in terms of your hiking abilities. I have hiked in summer, winter, rain and sunshine. In winter you will definitely get a great sunny day and in summer you might be lucky enough to spot a zebra or some horses roaming around. After a long hike, I love to cool down in the river at the bridge or just relax under the shaded bench.

There's an awesome assortment of trials (10/10). Here's one fairly intensive one you might enjoy. From the Kibler Park entrance, follow the entrance path then turn right (black path). Follow the black path, into the brown, then to the light green path (which is quite long), turn into the purple path which takes you to a summit where there are breath taking views of Johannesburg and nearby Suburbia. Going back to base, there's a few routes - one is to continue from purple into yellow (harsh downhill), into blue then dark green. If you're lucky in this long route, there's a high chance you'll see the Zebras and other herbivores.

Love this reserve. You can decide how long, how far, how easy or difficult you want your walkto be. En route, stop for a water break and look around you. We spotted wildebeest and gazelle. A pity though that some reserve users are leaving behind, energy drink plastic bottles, chocolate wrappers, tissues and chips packets, etc.... Not COOL, people.

Parking is a mission but that's water under the bridge. We did a group thing. There was 9 of us, with kids of different ages. I must say, it hectic but a fun experience. We had a personal "tour guide" if i can put it that way. Friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. He knew everything. Made our experience a breeze. Advice... if you're not looking to do an extreme hike, stay away from the Red Trail, or else YOU WILL DIE. LOL

Dot underestimate this place. Its really good. I wish they would put up signs/nominations/directions. All they notice boards were empty.
