Travelbags started as a South African Travel Womans’ club and was founded in 1958 as a non-profit organisation. During this time there were a few exclusive male clubs which lead to its formation. Constitutionally, this has remained unchanged since inception however over time men have started attending events and showing interest in the benefits of the club. Today the club is supported not only by woman but by men as well as there has been a gradual increase in male involvement and support. The club has opened membership to a limit of 100 male members. Approximately 200 members benefit from the fund-raising lunches which provide excellent networking opportunities for woman and men alike in the travel industry. These monthly events allow sponsors to market their products directly to members of the travel, tourism and events industry on a one-on-one basis, and let’s not forget that proceeds raised at these events are donated to the sponsors chosen charity. The Travelbags Mission is to provide a travel industry forum for the purpose of networking and to promote a strong foundation of local and international contacts.
