Bergsig is a beautiful place but could be run better!! Service is very disappointing and that from the start will set you off!! We went for some family afternoon fishing experience. The owners where not really cooperative and too keen to see visitors, everything was handled slowly, we requested firewood and for some hammocks and this came ages later! One of my aunts fell from the hammock but we had clearly stipulated that the hammock was for an adult some of the fishing rods were nit working, lucky enough we had pulled up with three of ours . The place is not hospitable at all, you are just told to drive towards a specific spot and fish there, but there is no Carre for a guide to accompany you and make you feel comfortable. This place could do with some customer service TLC!

Hi guys, I would like to share a fishing experience I had today at Bergsig Trout farm in Krugersdorp. We drove from Potch (130km) with the excitement of going to catch some trout as this is the nearest destination we could find. As we got there, we paid our entrance (although non fishermen is advertised at R60 per person, my wife was charged the full day fee of R80) and the person explained the lay of the land. This is where things took a turn for the worst The "stocked dam" was smaller than most koi ponds with an approximate depth of 1m at the deepest part. There were no fish to be seen, except 1 carp jumping and a baby bass landed by a very lucky fisherman. We then proceeded to the other 3 dams, where there were supposedly bass, carp and trophy trout. Unfortunately, these dams are also way too small to hold any decent fish as it is approximately 3m wide and about 15m long, bordering on each other. As it was a weekend, there were quite a few people, and needless to say, with dams these size, one angler basically covers the whole area. Please share this post as to help others not to drive a long distance with the expectance of a great day, only to waste a valuable day as well as the money for diesel and day fees which could have been spent differently. The only dam that seems to be as advertised was the specimen dam, but this dam is also very small, and a medium cast will most likely have you reeling in from the opposite bank of the dam. I shall definitely never return and will also not promote this farm to any of my friends or family.

We arrived during the week and set up camp next to the carp dam. I love that there are so many trees and grass. There is also a little shop (wendy) with basics to purchase (like ice, coldrinks and bait) next to the bathroom just above the carp damn.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! Its run by a scam artist that benefits on the day fees for fishermen and non-fishermen. When you pay your entry fee, you will catch NO trout (he claims they are in 1 pond) but there is nothing. You will see numerous fishermen leaving empty handed. The only thing that is real is the carp, possible barbel, possible yellowfish, tiny bass (7 cm). 1 small dam 2 pounds (he calls dams) The condition is highly unfavorable for yellowfish, a dirty still river. He will tell you there is "Trophy fish" but you wont catch them! (He even says so) IF YOU LOOKING TO GO CATCH CARP, BARBEL, ETC rather go to a local dam , you will actually have luck there and you wont be scammed out of your money for day fees.

The photos are deceiving. We visited Bergsig for three days mainly for fishing purposes seeing that the owners promised a wonderful fishing experience. During the three days we spent there, no other fish were caught except for three trouts. It was overbooked, day visitors taking over with no respect to the serious fishermen. The ablution facilities were not up to standard. The water was cold even though they promised hot water. The dams are extremely small. The owners keep telling the fishermen that if you buy THEIR feeding mix the fish will bite. They are out to make money and keep adding extras for everything. I would NOT recommend this place for anyone.

LOVED it! This is a most amazing place to come and relax. Absolutely lovely, tranquil and not too far from home. If you're looking for a spot to unwind, this is definitely the place for you.

R80 but the dams are poorly attended to. The 3 small dams are ridden with trash and algae making it unpleasant to fish.
