Just disgusting the lack of respect. My great grandparents are somewhere in this mess but we couldnt find them. Didnt spend too long looking as we did not feel safe or enjoy the smell. Clearly nobody has taken care of the cemetary in years... You now have to drive into the landfill as the cemetary is inside and part of it. Utterly disgusted and dissapointed.

Its sad to see such an old graveyard like slangfontein being vandalise next to a dumping site

What a sad state of affairs! Rubbish, rubbish and more rubbish. The gravestones have been broken or stolen. Not much is left behind. Very little is left to even consider this as a graveyard anymore. Historically a graveyard is named as such because people are buried on church property. The church is no longer in existence here. 000 In reference to the two images uploaded by myself, not my own pictures, showing the location of the dumpsite in the area to the graveyard. The graveyard is not looked after in any manner whatsoever by the land owner but is attested to the locals dumping wherever they want within the area without giving care to where the dump ends and the neighbouring property starts that the graveyard is located. Sadly it seems the dump will eventually take over this piece of history if nothing is done by the local municipality.

A touching visit to this memorial

The Slagfontein graveyard lies on the verge of a municipal landfill/dump in the Meyerton Henley on Klip area. Beyond the tree's and behind this graveyard the large dumpsite, consistently growing, is a threat to this graveyard which has been in existence since the early 1920's. The South Africa Government and local municipality does not hear the outcries of the public. The lack of respect and neglect for it's dead is becoming a quick and sad state of affairs.
