This the only wildlife animal hospital in the entire Johannesburg. This amazing initiative was founded by the veterinarian Dr Karin Lourens. The hospital treats wildlife FOR FREE which includes veterinary intervention, post admission care, rehabilitation and subsequent release in a safe environment. Dr Lourens sacrificed a very lucrative and profitable private practice to do the work she had always wanted to do. The hospital is a non-profit organisation and they depend entirely on the generosity of the public for funds or much-needed equipment. Dr Lourens is assisted by experts in the field of rehabilitation and treatment of wild animals. This selfless act of a doctor speaks volumes of her commitment to the preservation of animals and specifically wild animals. She is currently also reading for a master's degree on the fate of the elusive pangolin (Afrikaans - ietermagô). I would urge everybody to visit their website and make a donation or phone them and ask what you can do to keep this amazing initiative going. Even the smallest donation can make a big difference for a wild animal.
