Having used Sonja Smith previously and been very happy with their service this deterioration came as a huge disappointment. I called the Moreletta Park office after my wife passed away at home on 31st December. A single undertaker arrived and I had to help him carry my wife’s body to the hearse because his assistant was on leave. Then on 2nd January after the public holiday I went to their office to make funeral arrangements. They could not help me with bookmarks or funeral programs because their graphic designer and printer were on leave. In my grieving state I had to run around trying to find printers. I phoned the Sonja Smith main office in Lyttelton to complain and was told by the receptionist that the CEO would phone me back. I few hours later I phoned again and the receptionist confirmed my complaint had been given to the CEO yet till now I have not been contacted. Sonja Smith considers themselves an elite funeral group and charges a premium price which this shoddy service does not justify.

Friendly yet do not keep promises.. my dad passed away and wants to be cremated. We said in the first meeting we dont want other clothes and that they promised his body would be taken to Randburg latest on Tuesday. They called daily for the invoice to be paid yet still have not delivered the services we paid for . They are at least R3000 -R4000 more expensive which this service does not warrant. The lady being pregnant is no excuse for mediocre and inferior service. Highly disappointed. I hope we do not need to wait for months to receive his death sertificate.
