Really great hiking spot but we didn’t see the water fall and the signage is quite bad along the trails... we kept getting lost and coming to dead ends because the map is hard to figure out too, never mind the fact that it’s outdated. Nonetheless, the areal view and the fort was really something to climb up for... I’d definitely visit again. They just need to be more transparent with what they offer

December 2019. The park in general is a little rundown. The picnic areas are neglected, the waterfall is none existent. On entry you pay a entrance free per person but there are bottles and plastics everywhere. The hike up the hill was exhilarating. Make sure to take the right shoes and plenty of water to stay hydrated. On a scale from one to ten, one being easy and ten being extremely hard, from a personal standpoint; i would say this was a six. But worth the while. Right at the top you have a birdseye view of the city from all around. Visiting the old Fort was also surpisingly satisfying but that was about the highlight of the visit. Be save and do not hike with valuebles, try to park your car near to the entrance as this is the only area with security. The park is better known for the indigenous wild fig (Wonderboom), there are a few informative boards to read. -Time not wasted.

Fun to climb the hill. To walk through the history fort and have a lekka braai when you get back down. With imagination a group of friends and/or family can have great fun. Or alone you can get lost in the wonder of the big majestic Wonderboom tree.
