I am very impressed with the Johannesburg Zoo. They made some impressive upgrades and the place, including the bathrooms are very clean. The lawns as well as the animal enclosures are clean and well kept. There are a number of food stalls next to the walkways throughout the zoo. I really recommend visiting the Johannesburg zoo for a nice family outing.

What an improvement. The Animals of the Amazon exhibit is OUTSTANDING. I learnt so much and my 13 year old spent about 90 minutes exploring and learning in here. The Walk Through Aquarium was a unique experience. All the trees and shrubs in the rest of the zoo have grown considerably so there is plenty of shade now for visitors. Plenty of toilets and benches.

It's a great place... It's really neat and well maintained. The golf carts have been stopped because of covid... This was a bad idea because some of the elderly cannot manage to walk the whole park. The carts need to be sanitized that's all.

The area as a whole is beautiful and very spacious. There are a-lot of animals but the walk is very long. I was disappointed because there were no Gorillas and giraffes. The food courts are a bit pricey and don’t have a-lot of variation for foods.

In lockdown Level 1 I was surprised by the amount of people who visited it. It's great to see all the people and also the new parking is a huge improvement. Think they can convert the DEAD Polorbear enclosure to a crock world... Setup is already there. Feeding the crock like Australia with a piece of meat and long stick(for safety) will be a tourist attraction.

We went on a Monday morning, it was very quiet, a maximum of 50 people were at the zoo. Cages were empty and some of the information didn't match the animal, since the spaces of some primates were full of rats (photos), I don't know if it's part of the presentation but I found it disgusting. If you are after Lions, zebras, cheetahs ... I suggest visiting Lion Park about 40 minutes from the center of Johannesburg, there you can visit with your own car.

Loved Loved more parking space. Very clean and well kept. Spacious enough for easy walking especially in this pandemic. Enough bathroom all around. I don’t think we were able to see all the animals because walking with kids is not easy. We saw the big 5,also the mountain lion(puma) and tigers. Lots of crocodiles, peacocks, all types of birds(from owls to swans and pelicans). Different types of baboons and monkeys, lamas, deers, kudus, springbok, impala, etc not forget aquarium. Food stops where easily accessible, with nicely priced boerewors rolls and hot dogs, ice cream etc. A great place in the middle of busy Joburg to spend with your family especially kids. Will definitely make it a regular stop for me and my family. Keep it up Joburg Zoo
