Very poor admin indeed. I paid upfront for camping on 17 September and had to unfortunately cancel a few days later. Have requested my refund, which is only a quarter of the price I paid, on several occasions and still nothing. Cant even get to speak to management because all the website has is a cell number for an employee. Not impressed at all with this service . Be careful people.

Beautiful Reserve, fantastic scenery, brilliant birdlife and great accommodation. The Riverside Cottages have everything you need, are clean and well maintained. Campsites are perfectly located with great views. Highover is a birders paradise. We will definitely return. EDIT Oct 2020: Since our visit, management has changed so not sure what it's like now.
We’ve chickened out. We booked a chalet after twice camping. Once with an offroad trailer, the other a tent. December is rainy season so not fun for camping. For our third visit to Highover we opted for a chalet. We booked No6 but didn’t hesitate to upgrade to No3 next door after seeing what it had. Overlooking the river it has (almost) all you’ll need. Nice to have your own outdoor shower, loo and basin, kitchen wash-up area, gas stove and larger deck. Sleeps 8 but practically 4 or 6. It lacks some crockery and cutlery. If you like your special wine glasses or sharp knives then take them along. Take an extra mobile light or headlights. The braai area is great and the wood allocation appreciated. The roving Ostrich can be a problem with anything left out. Its long neck can get into some strange places. No monkeys to worry you. Units are cool inside despite heat and humidity outside. It really was hot this December. The outside shower area powered by gas was a real hit. We found the fridge froze our fruit and vegetables despite turning it down. The thought of building a fire nearby didn’t find much support Degan regularly stopped by to check all was well and helped out with an extra charging plug we forgot. Shannon was very accommodating in our upgrade. Highover is a special place. The birding is great and to see the Blue swallow is special. Good value. For our next visit we’ll continue to play chicken.
Quite rustic but really nice for a short stay. If you have a low car it's going to be difficult to go down to the campsites
absolutely fabulous place for nature and peace and quiet.. wonderful memory for us.. Michael the bird guide found us the Blue Swallow pair on the top of the foggy Highover.. Fondest of our memories of KZN thanks to you all and hope to return to this special place Suzanne and I loved the place
The riverside bungalows perfectly located for a back to nature holiday break. Fantastic birdlife. Logged 93 species (including an ostrich) in a two night stay! 18 Cape Vultures below eye-height and Blue Swallows in the mist was a highlight!
This place is truly a hidden gem in Richmond. Can't wait to experience more.
Beautiful place for an affordable price. I recommend a higher car though, as roads are pretty rough. And shower water in ablution blocks is solar powered and can be cold during colder days.
