What an awesome vibe at this nice restaurant. It had a lively atmosphere with students coming and going and still we felt right at home. The food was excellent and the service fantastic. The restaurant it easy accessible but parking is difficult to find. I would recommend that you have a bite here when you visit Stellenbosch

It was great! Went there for breakfast with friends. The meals are well priced - not expensive at all and the waitress was extremely friendly. She also explained that they have daily specials (except on fridays). Will definitely go there again.
I think sometimes when a restaurant's reputation is established and good recommendations are given (as is evident from the rest of the reviews), these restaurants can sometimes forget about the little things that matter... I did not have a good experience at Java Cafe. I walked in there by myself and wasn't even noticed. I stood there waiting to be seated while the waiters overlooked me and almost walked me out of the way. Then I seated myself. The table surface was dirty (and this during Corona time) and was left like that - I didn't even want to touch it. I am a super clean person but flies sat on me the whole time. I couldn't even eat in peace. With one hand I had to wave the entire time and had to move my body continuously to shake them off. It was like I sat at a full working farm. I understand it is a nature element but when I mentioned to the waiter (in a very friendy manner) that they should perhaps look at doing something about it (candles) as it is super irritating and overwhelms everything else, he didn't really even take notice, and didn't even apologize or anything in that way. Was it because I was alone so I didn't count as a big and vauable table? I don't know. I do know that they do not need good publicity and that is sad because other emptier restaurants try their best to gain customers. Java has a great vibe and it always smells heavenly, but they could definitely go back to basics again and look out for the small things that matter.
It's an absolutely lovely place to eat in Stellenbosch. You have to queue for about 5 minutes, but trust me the wait is well worth at the end.
Java is probably one of my favourite restaurants in Stellenbosch. The restaurant is affordable, the food is always delicious and the service is impeccable. The steak special is currently my favourite, who wouldn’t want steak, fries and a glass of wine for R89? The desserts are also so delectable. I’ve tried the cheese cakes, the lemon meringue, Belgian waffles and the sweet treat to share and would 10/10 recommend.
This is me and my wife's favourite restaurant in Stellies. If we cannot decide where to go, we always find ourselves at Java again. The easy going restaurant that always has a vibe whether it is 8 in the morning or 18 at night makes it inviting both to high heels and slip slops alike. The service is always excellent and the menu is is huge.
Busy night. (Pizza special) The food took a while, but service in general was good! Nice and Cozy little restaurant :)
