Wow... What a place to be and forget about the real world so relaxing, private and beautiful hikes. And the outside bush shower was the best thing ever
like
One of my new favorite places! The fact that they are pet friendly is a bonus, and the outdoor shower !! Absolutely magical, I had the best stay at the Shire. The Xologha forest is definitely one of SA's hidden gems. I can wait to come back!
What a magic place to relax and recharge your batteries. We stayed five nights for a family holiday and were very reluctant to leave! The cottages are beautiful and very comfortable and we enjoyed stunning forest views from our porch and from the cozy corner with the curved windows. The gurgling of the stream that runs right next to the cottage we stayed in (two of the four cottages are streamside) was a soothing backdrop to our activities. There is a small earth dam near the cottages and a deep pool in the stream along the adjacent campsite (all part of the same property) one can swim in, plus lots of well-marked hiking routes that are easily accessed right from the accommodation. Once installed one doesn't have to get back in the car to enjoy the surrounding attractions. Both the setting of the accommodation and the surrounding forest are absolutely beautiful. We cannot wait to return.
Thank you for making it pet friendly! SUE had the best time!
The Shire is simply magical. Tucked away in a clearing, surrounded by forest, at the foot of the mountain range, the little, wooden cottages are beautiful! I love the fact that everything was handcrafted by the owners, it just gives them this extra magical feeling. You can feel passion and love that went into creating these marvelous cottages, which are very spacious as well. There are hiking trails available for those who love nature and walks, and it is situated close to Forest Way where there is a picnic area and more hiking trails up to the waterfalls. The Shire, even though it is quite out of town, it is still not too far should you need to get anything from the shops there (taking approximately 15 min to get to any one shop). The nights are particularly magical, in the sense that the night sky is breathtakingly beautiful. I have never seen so many stars in the sky before. We spent the evenings gazing up at the sky, looking out for shooting stars. With the rolling mountains, forests, and quaint little houses, it is aptly named the Shire. I will definitely be making a return visit to this magical place. I loved every moment of it.
Lovely spot near Stutterheim , in the valley surrounded by forests. Had a lovely walk up to the Anderson dam. Friends stayed in beautiful "hobbit like" houses.
Oh my word! What a magical place.
Absolutely amazing experience. Stunning hikes and 5 star hospitality.
