Terrible experience from the beginning as we were racially prejudiced. I called in the morning to get information and times and the man I spoke to (mobile number on website) refused to speak English even after I said I was English and did not understand Afrikaans fully. Eventually when we (my black foreign husband, sotho friend and mixed race self) got there for the tour together with an Afrikaans family of four. The female tour guide gave the Afrikaans family an option of their language of preference without even batting an eyelid at us. The gentleman politely said English is fine so that we could also understand as he had already heard us speaking English. The tour guide spoke Afrikaans throughout the tour and told stories about the animals in Afrikaans to the Afrikaans family and disregarded us. Only when we asked something would she answer us in English. The tour was not at all Educational in that the tour guide does not at all discuss behaviors, etc of the animals (or maybe she did in Afrikaans and we missed it\u200d️) I do know this area is predominantly Afrikaans but we live in a diverse world and if you are in the service/hospitality industry you have to be in a position to accommodate different races and present tours in the business language in SA which is English. Very disappointing service! The animals themselves are beautiful and look healthy so if you are willing to pay R100 for a bit of a lot of racism, and views of cats then this is the place for you! I would not recommend this place to anyone. I wonder how they deal and treat with international tourists.
