We went to Fontana Fish & Chips on the 16th of April 2021. What a great experience. We ordered the famous hake and chips combo, and we were definitely impressed with how fresh it was. We really enjoyed the meals and will recommend you try it out once you come to Yzerfontein. Each of us had different requests for the combo in terms of the vinegar, salt and packaging of the hake and chips. They service ambassador in front really paid attention and was very friendly. All of request were fulfilled and the food came out excellent. There is a good variety to choose from. There is seating on the inside and outside.

A very nice looking place when you walk in. But when you get inside. Looks messy, reeks of burnt oil, and is very odd to say the least. We ordered the calamari and hake with a side of chips. It wasn’t even 5 minutes and the food was already out. Odd isn’t it? The chips were soggy and were tasteless, the hake was just a piece of fried batter and barely any fish. The calamari was very... how can I put it. It tasted like cardboard and had the consistency of hard jelly. Would not recommend to anyone. But the decor is kind of nice
Very lovely fish and chips meal. Fresh and tasty. I especially loved the chips and fresh rolls. Tables and chairs provided both inside and outside.
The worst experience ever. Owner or counterhand has no respect for his customers. Really rude and arrogant. The fish was the worst as it mostly consisted of a thick tasteless batter and a small piece of fish hiding under the batter. The place reeked of old burnt fish oil. Will never see us there again. Whoever prepares the fish should get some training on how to fry a perfect piece of fish. Would not recommend it to anyone.
We loved the fish and chips takeaway. Thank you Koenraad for the excellent service (we pre-ordered and it was ready on time). The family meal is great value for money. We'll be back for more.
We had a very lovely wknd in Yzerfontein. We wanted to have a taste of the fish and chips seeing its a fishermen's village. Biggest mistake ever,place smelled like old oil. More batter than fish and the chips was hard and aweful. Wont recommend anyone to go there. Will rather pay more for quality at other places.
Wow! The fish and chips were so delicious. It was fresh and perfectly made. Big portions which justifies the price
Stunning little fish shop in Yzer. Fresh hake and the fries were crisp without drowning in oil. Solid friendly service as well. See you many more times
