Battle of Muizenberg historical site

This tour has to be arranged through the Muizenberg Historical Society. The people at Rhodes Cottage and Het Posthuys will be able to arrange it through Chris Taylor. The site is that of an old British camp that held cannons for protection from the sea during the early years of the Cape colony, when tensions between Britain and France ran high. The former Dutch colony was now under threat since the French takeover of the Netherlands, and Britain had to safeguard against an attempt to recapture it, as an important trading post and stop on the maritime Spice Route. It's a fantastic, hidden piece of history. Well worth the visit to search for cannon balls and hear the old stories.
