I am a customer of Biomedical Emporium, and their skin products range from 30ml glass bottles to 80ml silver metal containers. The products are particularly expensive though of excellent quality and effective for damaged skin. But my complaint does not relate to the contents. Each 30ml bottle sets a customer back by between R800 and R1100. I have spent easily /-R30 000 for treatments, with 4-6 bottles setting me back easily by /-R6 000 (see picture). I sit with 16 blue bottles and 12 silver canisters which I will not throw into the dustbin. The packaging I believe adds to the cost of the product. I have tried to persuade the retailers to speak with Dr Judey to consider a refund for return of the containers, as they can easily be re-used, and in this way also avoid contributing to environmental degradation. They said she will not do this. I called her in Pretoria, to put this question to her. Instead of addressing a reasonable question, she shouted at me and stated who did I think I was calling her to "attack her". I did not shout at her. I asked her a reasonable question and she over-reacted. She is profiting (nothing wrong with that in principle) from women like me who need her products, but she is not willing to consider recycling and therefore, help reduce the cost of her expensive products for clients like myself who are not rich, but have no option but to pay these exorbitant prices, without any relief on the packaging which could easily, and as good business practice, be recycled and refunded. I am calling on more women to pressure her to do the right thing here!
