Today we were quoted a price on a used lathe which we assumed was the total price. The sales person kindly suggested he would like to offer a discount, but he would need to clear it with the boss first. He then offered us a R2,000.00 discount, but at this point only did he reveal that the price we were initially quoted was ex VAT, not incl VAT. The machine is R45k, so the VAT amount is huge for a small business. If this information was communicated to us up front we would not have considered the deal. Very poor communication and very poor result as we really wanted the lathe. We hope this business will do the honourable thing an fix this blunder THEY caused so that we can buy this lathe we desperately need!
