Hello there! A nice Japanese cuisine, nice location. In century city. As the other Japanese restaurants are in town. They constantly renew their menu and improve on their dishes. I suggest you try the eel Rice and/or beef rice. Both are amazing dishes! Remember to take photos. The environment is amazing here. Be sure to share with your friends!
Restaurant has a lovely view if you sit close to the windows at the back of the restaurant. Staff was a bit unbothered even though we were the only patrons in the restaurant. Nonetheless will still recommend them for their delicious sushi.
The restaurant itself is well decorated, and if you sit on the right spot you get to experience a beautiful view as the sun sets. On our arrival the manager was very friendly, our hands were sanitized but a COVID form was not asked to be filled in. For starters, we ordered the spicy shrimp dumplings and the chilli poppers. The dumplings were very disappointing in texture and size, however the poppers were decent. For mains we ordered different kinds of sushi, and as someone who has had a fair amount of sushi in the past, I can say that the sushi here is not the greatest. The sushi is good to look at, but lacks in flavour and is overly priced. Sushi that is topped with onion is completely overpowered by that onion flavour, that you don't even taste the sushi itself. The salmon roses (charged at R72 for 4 pieces) is a huge rip off for the thinly sliced salmon that is delivered. Unfortunately, I will not recommend this restaurant.
Awesome sushi,service and neat place
I had my birthday lunch at Akiya this past Sunday and decided to have the hot pot. It was really enjoyable and a great experience! The owner, Sheri, was so welcoming and really put in a lot of effort to make my day and my guests happy. The service was good and I will do definitely go there again.
