Small Claims Court - I found the process quite efficient, the clerk is helpful and friendly and helps people over the phone as well. The hearing process also went great and judgement was quick. There is nothing that can be done to wait months for your court date and that is not fault to the clerk or small claims office - there is a process and it gets followed. You can read about the small claims process before going to the clerk just to save you time of having to go back and forth, information is readily available should you have Internet access to Google.

Second day here and the same song is sung... You need to be here at 6am so that you can get seen, we only see a few people each day. I need a divorce and besides the lack of friendliness and information the people work like they at the beach and on holiday. Irritated by the public ignorance and talking like we are unlogical with any common sense. Not sure why there is only one lady doing first applications like knowing the fact that onee has to arrive almost 3 hours before opening is not enough to logically summise that the demand is far outstripping supply. And why we nott aerating with the tools of the 21st century like the Internet is beyond me. Seldom have I experienced such pathetic, rude and disrespectful service. Desperate need of a culture change.

There is absolute chaos in the management of the Bellville regional court. It is impossible to get through on phones and there is no other means of doing queries. Even if you decide to go in personally, you have to go before 7 and wait most of the day, only to find out where to go next. The divorce court LOST my settlement agreement! I have proof that it was delivered and signed for by the court. According to the sheriff’s office this is nothing new and happens a lot. That is why the let them sign for the documents. This meant that my case was postponed. I will have to restart the case – all this at my own cost. I have no means of doing inquiries. There are only one number which is useless. I cannot find any email addresses. And there is no one to help.

WHY DOESN'T THE PEOPLE PICK UP WHEN I CALL. THEY SIT AND LOOK AT THE PHONE THEN JUST REJECT THE CALLS. I WANT TO COME SEE WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING?

Absolutely useless. They could not answer a phone for over an hour, and the reply that I got from the clerk is that, "I can't find the file; it is on my colleague's desk". It must be a desk very far away

Today was one of the worst days of my life. I was so badly humiliated by a magistrate that is so suppose to act in the consern of the victims effected by domestic violence. I feel powerless and stripped of my rights. Her concern was with the other party. She refused to listen to evidence, she did not give me time to explain anything. She was just willing to listen to the other party. The person sweared in her room. All she said politely was ' watch your language.' The public comes to court for protection. I went to court for help and protection. What did I get. Someone who humiliated me and treated me like garbage in front of the person who offended me. I am traumitesed. It was an awful traumatizing experience of inhumanity and degration. I screamed out of helplessness powerlessness and desperation outside her room. This magistrate does not uplift victims, she degraded me, stripped me of my rights, made me feel like filth. She treats victums rude and inhumane. I have no faith in our justice sisteem anymore.
