The name Blacklab Records was coined by the first artists to come to the studio in appreciation of the producer Bartholomew "Bonslag" Vera's expertise in brewing rhythms to chemically precise compositions and notes. It was formed with the intention of giving African youths the chance to showcase their talent and get their minds off engagement in criminal and self-injurious behaviours.
