Great little place. The pork belly bao was fantastic and the service was excellent.

Without a doubt the best burger I have ever had. Super friendly staff and a great overall vibe. Would definitely recommend!

We just had the best dinner at Ding Dong! If you’re looking for Asian fusion, this place is phenomenal. We ate the JFC wings, the prawn bao (not on the menu, pork belly bao, and the Tokyo fries. Everything was cooked to perfection. We were blown away by our food. Everything tasted so good! The staff is super kind and friendly. It’s a small restaurant so not a ton of seating. We ordered a brownie for dessert. It was ok. Their strong point is everything else. Hubby and I left very full. We’re Isaac and Shilpa. We sold everything to travel the world. We’re currently exploring and eating our way through Cape Town. Feel free to follow us on Instagram @Isaac_Shilpa.

Phenomenal food from this little “hole in the wall” style restaurant. This was previously called Lucky Bao, just in case you go searching around for it. Pork belly bao and Japanese Fried Chicken Wings must be tried.

Such a cute little spot for a coffee in the sun.

What a little gem. Friendly and efficient service and absolutely delicious food. Would highly recommend. Best bao I’ve had in Cape Town. Best to book as it is a tiny place that seats about 10 people.

One of the worse restaurant experience in our lives. We called and said that we saw a balcony in their pictures and would like to book a table there. The person was nice and mentioned that the balcony belongs to Piano Bar but that they have a deal with them and he can arrange us sitting there and ordering from Ding Dong. So we did book and go. When we first got to Piano Bar the person who welcomed us there said that it is not possible to sit there and order from Ding Dong, so we were confused and called the Ding Dong person again who told us to go speak to one specific person at Piano Bar. That was quite weird but we did so. That person (will not name him here) was also very hesitant but told us that its fine and we could sit there. We did try to inquire about this hesitancy and inconsistency between what each person is saying and how each is behaving and said multiple times that we don’t mind just eating downstairs at Ding Dong, he responded (very hesitantly again) that there was nothing wrong at all and that we can sit. We stupidly did so. We sat around 7pm and we ordered immediately. 30 minutes later, the person comes to us and tells us he apologizes the food will take another 30 minutes. An hour later same thing (waiter came and said that food will take another 30 minutes). I got suspicious here and sensed that this was being done on purpose but gave them the benefit of the doubt. We called Ding Dong again and the person apologized for that and promised that order will arrive very soon. 8.30pm.. still nothing.. so we left humiliated. This is such a horrific degrading treatment of customers. If Piano Bar has an issue with Ding Dong, then Ding Dong should have informed us from the beginning and not let us be a victim of their own problems. Goes without saying that I will not be stepping at Ding Dong again.

Absoloutely amazing. Munched our way through the menu one delicious plate at a time. Quirky sidewalk deliciousness at its best. Love love love. Our waiter was full of suggestions to keep us eating. Pork belly bao.. amazing.
