High quality Mexican food and really friendly service. I'm especially impressed with this place since after visiting once giving them feedback they actually changed the menu before our second viait! (It was regarding vegetarian options) The images shown here are from the R50 lunch special where we ordered pork tacos and a vegetarian burrito which both came with a free drink!

El Burro has been a firm favourite of mine since they opened up in Greenpoint a number of years ago. The expansion to the Southern suburbs, just proves their superiority. I love everything about this branch, as it carries over all the best things of the original. Great food. Beautiful decor. Lovely atmosphere and just the best staff.

Cool vibe, staff have a "different" uniform but great attitude and awesome service. Many vegan options. Food is good, a tad bit pricey portions aren't very large(for R85 those are small ribs, tasted awesome though) . One bad thing, milkshakes(very good) are served with no straw no spoon which makes it hard to drink, I'm bringing my bamboo straw next time! But overall I recommend. They're next door to the creamery if you need a landmark.

Definitely give this place a try whilst in Cape Town! Love the element of decor used and the food is quite authentic. Really nice atmosphere at dinner time. Ordered Chilli Rellenos which was really tasty as well as Taquitos which was different but really nice. Ceviche was nice as well. Worth a try!

My girlfriend recently suggested we try a Mexican restaurant that she heard about in Claremont, El Burro. We went in this past Monday for their "Two for one" deal on all the mains and / or tacos. What a nice experience. Immediately after entering we were given a great, warm and friendly greeting and seated at our table. The restaurant itself has a warm and relaxed atmosphere and the traditional Latin music in the background adds to the ambiance without being too tacky. It all feels very natural. Despite the obviously massive tequila menu on offer we opted to keep it light and had some really decent coffee before plunging straight into our meals. We felt the starter, sort of a Mexican equivalent of a spring roll was quite heavy and oily so wasn't much to our liking, however the mains were incredible. We had the chicken enchiladas and the steak quasidilla, which despite being very hot, was also really delicious. Overs a good dinner and I would recommend everyone at least try it out. Although, just be sure to book beforehand as they can get quite busy in the evenings.

Great location, quite loud, so better for big social nights out. Tacos were good, churros were a bit under-cooked

Beautifully decorated restaurant, friendly staff. Very authentic Mexican food - definitely not 'tex mex'. Got a little bit of a shock at the food's price although very filling. I had a sweet potato starter but it was very rich and made me feel a bit sick.
