I went to request for my Umalusi certificate for the first time I never collected the certificate ever since 2015, only to be told that it was distroyed by the Department of Education as its their protocol since I did not collect it and its regarded as a lost certificate and I have to pay for something that I never had!! Thinking my certificate is safe with the department but no its lost and destroyed!

The admission site for registering new pupils is much more effective than having to deal directly with the department, but there is still room for some improvement. The info on the site needs to sync with info being sent out by the schools.

Got a booking from Sandile Bavuma from the Physical Resource Planning and Property Management for three nights (bed & breakfast, lunch and dinner), said payment will be done soon-soon. Sandile never checked in, left us waiting. That's not how you treat hosts! But we've learned our lesson: Never trust the Western Cape Education Department! Never accept bookings without upfront payment in full! Be warned, fellow hosts!
