Worked there from 2014 until 2019.Been on various successful shutdowns, turnarounds, repairs, etc for RITC & going again in 2020.Very strict security, but safe.Must be safety conscious & listen to the various alarms. Back at Chevron Refinery, but now it's called Astron Refinery.Working for RITC at a surface technician in Area B & Area C.Lots of challenges & lots of hard work.I enjoy the work & I enjoy working for RITC,but I'm health & safety conscious

This thing spewing its sulphur gases even visible at night is killing us slowly. How is it allowed to operate in such close proximity to residential areas. It should be closed or moved.

Proudly destroying human health and the crispy blue Cape Town sky line. Frankenstein Neanderthals....ignoramous maximus, idiots, another night of steam towels, asthma pumps, cortisone and antihistamine praying for a westerly breeze to catch a breath. There will come a moment of extreme violence soon... one last choke of black sud smoke and this refinery will be history, burnt to the ground, these bunch of clowns would have been better off taking care of air pollution standards and policy. The local government has an option at this time to step in on our behalf to improve the polution capturing standards. Astron has the option to improve the air quality control to an acceptable standard which it is not at present. The public living in the problem have the alternative is to take care of this problem the African way should our voices continue to be ignored ..... mark this day of 21 June 2019 on the calendar as the time bomb tic-off point. Astron is on borrowed time, regardless of contracts, agreements, ambitions, Astron will not destroy our health any further without feeling extreme pain in return, mercilessness returned for the punishment they dish out into our environment daily. 21/06/2019... day 1

I live 5km away from this place and still I smell the sulphur from it every evening in the air. Definitely not abiding by city by-laws and CoCT is too corrupt to do anything about it.
