Great service...very friendly atmosphere that really calms you down for the interview. Service is 10times better than Cape Towns Embassy. This was worth the flight over to Durban.

I sent in my passport to be renewed. When I went to make copies of my retirement visas to be renewed they were cut out of my passport with a slim price of tape to cover damage. I never thought the Enbassy would do that to a US citizen. If I wasn't aware of what they did I could find myself in a horrible situation. What a very sad world we live in!
Friendly staff. Had a great experience !!!
Had the best experience today. Was so nervous after all the negative reviews. Every one was so friendly and helpful, from security to all the other staff.
Great experience this morning! After reading the reviews i was really nervous. All the people we dealt with were so friendly and helpful. They asked the right questions. Just go prepared and for the right reasons and you will be fine!
There are a few parking spots on the side of the road outside 303 Pixley Kaseme Street. As you enter the building there is a pre-screening security desk for visitors to the US consulate. Be ready to show your appointment confirmation letter, DS160 confirmation and passport. Then make your way to the building's security desk near the elevators. After signing the visitor book make your way up to floor 31 in the elevator. As soon as you exit the elevator a security guard will give you a key for a small locker big enough for your phone. You are allowed to carry your wallet and keys on your person into the consulate if you want to. You'll pass a security checkpoint then be directed to take a seat near Window 4. An official will determine the purpose of your visit and double check if you have sufficient supporting documentation, e.g. letter of employment, invitation letter etc. Next you'll queue seated near Window 2 to have your fingerprints scanned. Finally the interview happens at Window 1. You'll stand in front of a friendly consulate official who will ask you questions about the purpose of your trip, how long you've been employed, who is traveling with you, etc. Plan to spend around 1 - 2 hours here.

Just got off of the phone with Charmaine. She was professional and very helpful. She saved me time by explaining that she could email me a statement that I need from them as well as directed me to where I could go to get the affidavit without having to pay the 50 to them. So nice to have my phone call answered by a very kind and helpful human being right away!
