Incredible location tucked away in the mountains. Perfectly equiped eco cabin with lovely attention to detail and amazing views! Private waterfalls and hiking trails at your doorstep - can it get any perfect than this?! Will definitely return as there is still much to discover.

Closer in the mountains. You cannot stay. Hosts Ricky and Paul are superb hosts catering for all your needs. The cottage is well appointed and completely off grid yet has abundant water from streams close by and power generated from solar and hydro.

I haven't been there but saw it and Hector (dog in photo) at close proximity thus can't rate the service. It looks like a a beautiful hide away. Clear air. Quiet. Cool. Space cannot accommodate my family of 5 but would certainly consider it as a couple.

We stumbled upon this little hideaway featured in "go!" magazine. We stayed 2 nights and had a wonderful time. The property itself has its own paths that wind through magical forests, caves and outcrops, and that also connect to the wider Drakensberg wilderness area. We would love to visit again!

The one pleasant memory I have is the trails.

iKhayalamafu is a beautiful private nature behind the Monk's Cowl camp, right against the passes going up the Little Berg. As such it is probably the deepest you can get into the Drakensberg (anywhere) without sleeping in a tent. The owners are very knowledgeable and friendly, and have done a great job to build it up to be sustainable and off-grid. Because there are only two cabins (built for couples), it is never crowded. There are many well-maintained and signposted routes, ranging from easy to strenuous, and connecting with the routes in the wilderness area itself. The bird- and animal life is also astounding. I've been hiking the Drakensberg for many years, but have never encountered the abundance I've seen at iKhayalamafu. We'll definitely be back!
