Both times I made use of their service I got more than I bargained for in a good way. They repaired a 1958 Rolex that everyone else said was not repairable. Communication is not always great, but I get the idea they are a bit of technophobes. SMS works :-)
Four stars purely for the quality of the work done. If you're not in a rush and don't mind poor communication then there is no better place in Cape Town to get a watch or clock sorted. My clock was supposed to take 3 months but ended up taking 21, but it's finished and I'm happy with it. As for the owner, we sat and chatted for an age and she was very pleasant, even if it wasn't easy to get a word in. My advice would be to approach Chronos in a laid back manner knowing no job is ever rushed, if you can live with that, things are all good.

The worst service I have ever experienced. Took a waterproof watch for battery replacement. They claim that they pressure tested the watch. First time in water watch takes on water. Went back. This was October 2012, now July 2017! Many follow-ups in between. Every visit to the shop I experienced racist rants from the owner (the lady) and got told what useless country South Africa is. Many excuses why my watch is not fixed. They still have the watch and have not been able to repair the watch nor are they prepared to replace the watch with similar (second hand) watch. Absolutely no communication from them, only from me. Last time I went to the shop received verbal abuse (sworn at) by both owners. - simply because I inquired about my watch! Also read Hello Peter website for similar experiences and reviews by other clients. Do not take your watch here!
I strongly recommend you avoid this company, run by Suzanne and Jochen Dietrich, at all costs. I left with them a pocket watch in 2012 and contacted and visited them repeatedly over the next years, always given an excuse as to why they had not done any repair. Learning that most of their staff had left and that they were about to close, I attempted to retrieve my watch in 2018. After much argument I received a dismantled mess that is probably not repairable. My regret is that I did not read the reviews on this site before entrusting them with my watch. I experienced the same rudeness, insults and poor behaviour as others here have reported. No doubt they will open under a different name somewhere else. They are to be avoided.
The worst service ever. I inherrited my grandma's gold pocket watch and took it in for a service in 2003. Initially Suzanne was very friendly. Repetedly followed up and eventually was told I can fetch the watch. The engraving on the inside was polished off!!! The watch then lost time, so I took it back. This timebthey decided to send it to a goldsmth to repair the clasp (without my knowledge). Eventually, after numerous calls without success, I went to their shop - only to be told that this Gold watch of Grandma, was STOLEN!!! They are sorry. Just imagine. This is not something that can be replaced. Suzanne was very rude ! No compensation. I SOOOO regret taking the inherritance to them. STAY AWAY!!!
