AltMet is located in Johannesburg, South Africa on 1 Jan Smuts Ave, Braamfontein,. AltMet is rated 3 out of 5 in the category metal supplier in South Africa. We are a young start up in the metals sector, leveraging on innovation to beneficiate and extract value out of low grade ores, tailings and mining waste. We also have vested interests in secondary consumer metal bearing waste material. Our strategic thrust is the identification of viable, low capital, low risk secondary sources of strategically important metals; employing cutting edge technical and business modelling innovative solutions in order to recover metals and metal compounds in an environmentally and economically sustainable way. Our current focus includes a PGM recycling project to recover Pt, Pd and Rh from autocatalytic converters, and Alumine - a project to develop a process which recovers aluminium oxide, silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide in high quality grades from the 42 million tonnes of Coal Fly Ash produced by Eskom and Sasol per annum. We are also actively looking for mines in both Zimbabwe and South Africa for surface treatment of viable gold dumps. We believe the future of metal supply is in efficient recycling, and are therefore positioning ourselves to be a diversified metal supplier, employing processes with a minimal environmental footprint.
