Friendly atmosphere and delicious coffee. The earthenware pots are coal-heated and delivered piping hot by a gracious host. Beautiful setting and relaxing atmosphere.

Sitting down to the smell of freshly roasting coffee and frankincense on hot coals makes this Ethiopian eatery just a wee bit different from its competitors. The food is made for sharing. Every bite is delicious. And eating with your hands is loads of fun. The strong Ethiopian coffee is beautifully flavourful and very different from rest of the regular coffee shops in Maboneng. In short, Habesha really tries to bring a beautiful authentic Ethiopian eating experience to life.

Habesha is a great place to go for a pleasant, uniquely Etheopian experience. The fragrance of their traditional incense combined with the aroma of charcoal brewed coffee greets those entering the restaurant. A reasonably priced menu, and traditional foods served on injera combined with friendly staff and fresh, authentic food produce a pleasant experience.

I might sound like a cheap skate. But I couldn't care less about who thinks what. I paid R87.00 for a meal, lol only to get a half drum stick, 1 egg and some gravy with a very tiny portion of Ethiopian cheese. I mean really now? Not even 2 pieces? Is the chicken perhaps made of caviar? Ethiopian dishes are not very expensive to make. I lived with them for over 10 years. I am really disappointed at the portion of food that was served to me. Won't come back.

We had an amazing meal at Habesha today. The food was amazing - the meat dishes and also the vegetarian options. The decor was beautiful, the coffee delicious and best of all, the staff were amazing! So friendly and informative. It was an all round amazing time and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Thank you to our beautiful waitress. You made our day!
