I had to take my brother to the A & E department after a referral letter from the GP. The staff were extremely helpful and very professional and highly competent A & E doctors as well as surgeons. I was very impressed by the whole experience and am truly grateful for all the employees. Thank you all so much!! God Bless

I think they are all doing a great job. My friend almost lost life but the resuscitation team did the most. They are great staff members at the hospital and fairly great service
Absolute nightmare. Review written only as a WARNING. BE CAREFUL. Not enough space here to write our experience. Judging from the other reviews looks like "reverse" apartheid. Or patients are pre-selected based on some "other" criteria as to who gets top treatment. If you happen to be one of those in their bad group, brace yourself or go home & die with the pain in dignity BEFORE you get admitted. Else you will become their prisoner & they will hold you there against your will with ridiculous excuses for long hours when you could've used precious minutes to get alternate help. All be it just to ease your pain. NHI in this country... REALLY now. C'mon who are we fooling. I quote our president " GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY & ITS PEOPLE...:
Awful experience. Staff are generally pleasant & the Doctors are professional. Sadly our experience at this hospital was an utter nightmare. The picture below is the bed my husband was supposed to be sleeping on. All torn up, no sheets or blankets, the windows were all broken leaving the ward like a freezer. A 40 year old who is never frightened by much in life was truly terrified of sleeping there as the other two ward patients looked rather suspect, like they would kill him in his sleep. If you can withstand sleeping on steel springs & a 50/50 chance of waking up next day then maybe this place is for you. Ooooh let's not forget the toilets where you have a choice of 1 toilet filled with poop & tissues or the other 1 with yellow wee & tissues reaching the top.
SHORT HISTORY I have been battling with severe asthma for years going in and out casualty in Cape Town. For 8 years I have been using the wrong dose in my NEBULIZER, this caused me to use up to 6 x 200 inhalations in 1 month especially winter and when winds blew as they do in Gordon's Bay, Cape Town. I had a partial left lung collapse in December 2017 and a spontaneous full right lung collapse 01 June 2019 followed by a drain inserted and later a pleurodesis procedure on the 24 th of June 2019 in Cape Town. I moved to Johannesburg in July 2019, I have gone to private doctors until I could not afford the fees anymore. This morning I saw a young Dr. at HJH he really asked a lot of questions and looked at all the medications I was using, how I was using it and how much. It turned out that the medication I have been taking in my nebulizer was the dose for a child! Which no one told me for 8 years! I now feel confident to use the nebulizer and do my lung exercises as I know what I did wrong and why the nebulizer medication "did not help". To this Dr. PLEASE NEVER CHANGE THE WAY YOU TREAT YOUR PATIENTS. You are the 2nd Doctor I have seen at a Provincial Hospital that makes me believe that the most excellent Dr's and staff are in these Hospitals. Thank you so much!! KIND ADVISE TO PATIENTS *This is a big Hospital do not expect to just find your way, ask questions if you are uncertain where to go next. *Pay attention to questions medical staff ask you. *Stay kind and respectful they are working long hours under enormous pressure.
Disgusted in the service. Doctors and nurses who took an oath to look after patients are not abiding to their promises made. Took more than 8hrs to get a bed. Since then no water or food, been mistreated and not been attended to by any doctor until a week later, even then no satisfaction. Sad to say that this is people we trust to take care of our family members, however we sit In fear if they will make it through or come out. Whether it is a government facility of not they still get paid to provide a service which is not the case...pathetic!
Honestly These people knows how to treat patients. Its takes time but you get good treatment. They always make sure that, you are fine when they discharge you. Thanks Dr Ngoma and the entire team
