This was an interesting stop, though there is not a lot to see. You can feel the respect given to Nelson Mandela though. Definitely in a nice area of town. We felt safe here.

Lovely quiet area, with upmarket houses and a lot of high walls and security. Beautiful tree lined street, perfect for a tribute to a well respected citizen of this country. You can almost feel the emotion poured out over the years, with notes and messages from the public placed in a special place of remembrance. Not a great deal to see, but nice none the same.

The nelson mandela house in houghton is in the suberb houghton were our famous stateman sadly last stayed until his death 2013 with his last wife graca marcel and regular visits for tourism highlighting his wondeful career and humility
