Impressed by management. My partner and I went for dinner last night (15 Jan, 2017). Being a Sunday evening, we almost expected skeleton staff as it isn't a popular dining evening for families and Spur is a family restaurant. When my partner's food arrived (Mustard steak - an item we have not tired before), it looked small. Probably because it was served alone on a large plate, the veggies for some reason been served separately. We called the waitress merely to verify that this was indeed a 200g steak. She called the manager and he immediately took the plate away, brought us two sealed, unprepared 200g steaks so we could see the size and was prepared to make an entirely new meal. This was way more than we'd expected, we honestly just wanted to know that we'd received what we had asked for. This dedication to service, the attention and apparent concern was a breath of fresh air. It's entrenched our brand loyalty and we will continue to enjoy many happy means at River Hawk Spur. A heartfelt thank you to the manager on duty that night. I did not think to ask his name, but he was delightful and is a true asset to the franchise.

In all Spur branches I have been recently, thus branch has the biggest children's play ground. The service is standard Spur service and the environment is good. I have been there both in Summer and winter and both experience were good as the ventilation was good and the temperature inside was comfy. When you go there with a toddler or young kid please have R5 coin with yourself! There is a vending machine which sells small temp tato stickers for children, and if they see it you have to buy :)

Best place for my kids and their friends to play. Food is always fresh, staff is attentive. I never have to complain. I have been using River Hawk Spur for over 11 years now.

Good family friendly restaurant. Tonight there was the Bryandale shadow night, so it was packed. I had a good jalapeno burger. Service good considering it was full.

Very, very bad steak. My kids had fun and the staff were very obliging (and apologetic), but the first time my steak arrived it was cooked to death (I ordered it rare). And sour. So the manager convinced me to give them another chance, which I did. My steak arrived again and the inside was ice-cold. And still sour. Seriously sub-par. Even for Spur...

Fairly good restaurant, with nice steaks and burgers. The kids play area is very nice and the restaurant, like all Spurs is geared towards young kids and families.

12 May 2016: Having ordered a 200g sirloin, the meat that arrived turned out to consist of 50% fat. When the waitress was politely advised of this whilst checking on our meal, the remaining food was removed. I was however advised that no replacement was to be offered - but I could choose a complimentary dessert. Having eaten no more than 90g of my meal, this was not acceptable and I was shocked at the attitude. The Manager did not bother to personally resolve the problem, rather choosing to send a senior staff member to relay the message that included the statement "Sirloin is a fatty cut of meat"! And to bring 2 vacuum packed cuts of meat to prove their point. I suggested that in future waitrons advise customers they are choosing a meat cut of which only half may be edible! The meal was charged for. My family has been supporting this Spur since it first opened many years ago - I told the Waitress this would be my last visit to River Hawk Spur. In a lame attempt to placate me, I was given 3 x R20 vouchers. Very sad to see non-existent Customer Service in yet another establishment.
