SA Harvest Reviews | Rating 5 out of 5 stars (2 reviews)

SA Harvest is located in Johannesburg, South Africa on 71 Edward Ave, Sandringham,. SA Harvest is rated 5 out of 5 in the category warehouse in South Africa. We rescue surplus food that would otherwise have gone to landfills. SA Harvest collects quality surplus food in refrigerated vehicles from a variety of sources and delivers it, direct, without delay and free of charge, to a variety of organisations that feed food vulnerable people on a daily basis. Even though we work closely with any organisation that rescues food and fights to reduce waste, one of our most important points of difference is that, because our business model enables us to deliver PERISHABLE as well as NON-PERISHABLE food, our recipient organisations get a sufficient variety of food-types enabling them to make full and nourishing meals for their people. The work we do has a four-fold impact. 1. Quality food for organisations that feed the food-vulnerable – the food that we deliver is nutritionally diverse and enables our recipient organisations to provide wholesome and nutritious meals to the people they support. 2. Savings for charities – our food deliveries to charitable organisations enable them to redirect vital funding into education, rehabilitation and other programmes. Charities are also able to save money on the transport costs they would have incurred if they had to do their own pick-ups from food donors. 3. Helping the environment – When good food goes to waste it decays in landfills and creates harmful methane gases that damage our atmosphere. By ensuring that good food is eaten rather than going to landfill, SA HARVEST is helping protect our environment by preventing tons of greenhouse gas emissions from polluting the atmosphere. 4. Savings for food donors – our food donors benefit from reduced expenditure associated with the disposal of excess food, reduced food storage costs and the satisfaction of knowing they are making a valuable contribution to those in need in their local community.

SA Harvest in an amazing organization who are focused on feeding thousands of people who would otherwise be going hungry. Not only do they ensure that they can support as many beneficiaries as possible in order to feed as many people as possible, they focus on ensuring that the meals are nutritious and nourishing. They are also doing so much from a sustainability point of view. By rescuing food from ending up in landfills, not only are they able to feed thousands, but this also has a positive impact on the environment. An amazing organisation doing unbelievable work in South Africa right now!

The Harry Crossley Foundation chose SA Harvest as one of their implementing partners in their response to Covid 19 and the desperate need to secure food for the most vulnerable during the pandemic. It has been a pleasure to work with SA Harvest who have used the grant from HCF to meet this ongoing need in South Africa.
