On this island there is the Kramat Moturu pilgrimage site which was built in 1969 to commemorate the prince of Madura named Sayed Abdurahman Moturu. He was one of the first priests in Cape Town who was exiled to Robben Island in the mid-1740s and died on this island in 1754
