This is about a Mercedes CLA180 that was bought one year ago from Malmesbury Mercedes with 20 000km on the clock and the remainder of the maintenance plan intact. We even paid overbook because of the maintenance plan been extendable. Before the vehicle was sold to me a 60 point check was done and it passed with a AAA rating, according to Malmesbury Mercedes. Since then I have done a further 13 000 km and the vehicle was serviced once by Mercedes Menlyn. The brake pads were also changed at that time. All covered by the maintenance plan!!!. With no reports of any-thing wrong with the vehicle. We have recently sold the vehicle at R285 000 and the buyer requested us to do a 60 point check at Mercedes Menlyn on the vehicle, as he wants to purchase an extended maintenance plan. To our surprise the vehicle failed the check because of nonstandard modifications done to the vehicles exhaust and the brake calipers have been painted. We were also cautioned that the maintenance plan could be cancelled as well because of the changes. Firstly, we find it strange that Menlyn Mercedes Benz changed the brake pads and never reported that the brake calipers have been painted! The strange thing is that we bought the vehicle in this condition, we do have pre delivery photos to prove it. In the meantime, we have lost our buyer and Mercedes Menlyn have referred us back to Mercedes Malmesbury, who are giving us no joy. I am out of pocket for cost of the check at Mercedes Menlyn and feel done in by Mercedes. We have reported the matter to the Mercedes of SA customer complaints office as well and waiting for further communication, but two weeks later the case has not moved any further.
