Our aim is to alleviate the African contient from period poverty and menstrual stigma through service, education, advocacy and women empowerment. OAM FOCUS FUNCTIONS: 1. SERVICE Service is a very popular focus function for ending period poverty. This focus function includes ● Donating and distributing both disposable and reusable menstrual products to women and girls that need them. ● Holding sewing classes on how to sew cloth pads in communities ● Hosting pad drives and sending them to other chapters that are in need them 2. EDUCATION Education is key in ending menstrual stigma and elevating women and menstrual health awareness in communities. This focus function includes ● Holding workshops talking about menstrual health and women health, contraception, puberty etc ● Going to schools to lecture boys and girls about their bodies and menstruation ● Teaching women and girls about personal hygiene ● Educating both men and women about reusable options for menstrual products 3. EMPOWERMENT Economically empowering women and girls provides them with the opportunity to become independent and provide menstrual products for themselves. Our everchanging state of the art Skill Based Empowerment Program. Our SBE Program teaches women and young girls skills in Robotics&IT, Agriculture, Construction and Arts&Creativity fit and functional for the Fourth Industrial Revolution 4. ADVOCACY In many countries menstrual products are taxed. This makes it much more difficult for women and young girls to get easy access to buy menstrual products because they are too expensive. With over 5 operating chapters across Africa (Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Africa) , we believe that the elevation of women and menstrual healthcare produces women who are productive and healthy members of their community and society as a whole. No woman should ever be restricted from reaching their fullest potential due to a natural need.
