The Vales

My dear mother Jess Jamieson spent the last year of her life at this amazing facility based in the heart of the beautiful coastal Village of Pennington KZN, just one hour south of King Shaka International Airport in Durban. Our family searched for the perfect care facility for our mom whom my Dad had been caring for at home for 6 years prior to her moving in to the Vales. For a carer coping in a home environment it is very difficult as the Alzheimers gets worse, bathing, dressing, and very erratic sleep and moods are daily challenges so in June 2018 we took the decision to take my Mom to the Vales in Pennington after a nasty fall resulting in a broken arm and a very traumatic week in hospital. Val Ball has over 40 years experience in caring for Alzaheimers and Frail Care patients. Val and her staff are so caring and do an amazing job of running the home and keeping the patients healthy and happy. The facility is always spotless and does not smell of the usual smells when visiting "old age homes" The gardens are lovingly tendered and attract so many birds and butterflies and the trees in the area are amazing. Patients are taken out to sit in the sun and soak up the rays and fresh air on a daily basis. The food is fantastic I often wished I could stay for lunch. Sadly my Mom passed away on the 16th of July this year, a bittersweet day for our family, we were happy that her suffering was over but obviously we were so sad to say goodbye. I can honestly say that from the bottom of my heart I could not have wished for a better place for my mom to be in her time of need. I met so many lovely people who's parents and spouses were at the Vales and we have made new friendships and support groups. Thank you Val, Ruth and all your amazing staff for what you do for the elderly, your love and care is amazing. True Earthly Angels xxx
