️ Sjoe, a challenge for our Citi Golf to reach this parking area, but its worth the trouble. An excellent starting point for hiking esp. towards the Amphitheatre. 2.5-3 hs along the foot of the Sentinel up to the famous chain ladders. Just up and straight to the rim. Stunning views around and down to the gorge and the Tugela source. In winter a special experience, but actually an all seasons hike.

Toilets where disgusting, they look brand new but had no running water etc. Staff tell us that we need to pay, and they only take cash, no card machines. So we where a group of 20 with not enough cash. Not very well organized place. Great hike though.

Wonderful hike. Before heading up, park at Witsieshoek. They offer a shuttle service in a 4x4. The road from Witsieshoek to the carpark is treacherous and should be marked as closed. The hike is the best I've done so far, with varied terrain and jaw dropping views.

The road there should only attempted with a proper 4x4 and It will take an hour to get to the parking lot from the gate. It will ne worth it.

Lovely setting, but definitely advisable to use a 4x4 to get there, but well worth the views and scenery. The walk to the peak is moderate in terms of difficulty especially the ladder section, but the views and openness are spectacular and worth the extra bravery. You won't regret it. Don't forget to look at the ground as you walk, there's a myriad of lovely veld flowers to be seen!
