I wanted to play piano for years, but made excuses, because I didn't really believe that I could do it. I thought it was too late to learn as an adult. I'm so glad I finally took the plunge. My life has forever changed. This has been the most rewarding experience and the exciting part is that it's only the beginning. I'm so grateful to be walking this journey with Carl, I couldn't have asked for a better teacher!!

I have had 5 wonderful years of learning to play the piano under Carl's Tutorship. He encouraged me to explore different styles of playing which is something I have always yearned to do I will never forget what he told me after the first two weeks. He said......."now when you get home make it your own" . I did so, which gave me so much confidence and enjoyment. He has made a meaningful difference in my life THANK YOU CARL
Carl is amazing at how he teaches you – before you realize it, you’re playing the piano and you’re listening to yourself for the first time, and it feels great! To play with feeling – what a revelation! I’ve been trying to play something on the piano for so long and it always feels like I am starting from scratch again. Carl patiently takes you through the basics and then helps you develop an ear for what you are playing and how “you” should be playing it – rather than just reading music and rigidly replicating a version of it. I actually look forward to my lessons, and get to the piano more often than I ever would have in the past. And with each lesson I feel excited about my piano playing. It has taken me nearly 30 years of pursuing the piano (on/off), but finally, my 1st year with Carl, I get it. What an amazing gift to not only master such a magnificent instrument, but to also inspire people enough to play more and appreciate it in the way it was meant to be. Carl’s philosophy is spot on: anyone can (and should) play beautiful music on the piano – it is not just for the academics and geniuses. I am forever grateful, thank you Carl.
Carl's engaged, practical and philosophical approach to teaching is really helpful especially for someone who had never dreamed of being able to play and actually read music. He approaches every learning opportunity with individual attention, appraisal and encouragement and never stops working to allow the student to discover and grow. Learning with Carl is an ongoing rewarding experience.
Carl is a very talented instructor and has a relaxed approach to his students, which immediately puts you at ease. He is an extremely patient and forgiving teacher, never expecting you to perfect your pieces from week to week– rather his aim is to ensure you have learnt the actual lesson that each piece is teaching you, which is a great way to build up your skill each week.
I have had and am stilling having a stunning time learning to play the piano from a different perspective from Carl. He has encouraged me to play more freely and to give my music some meaning. The one thing that stands out for me is that he has taught me to put my whole heart, spirit and soul into the music. To actually play from within. This gives me another look at what happens to my Spirit and how it reflects in my music. Lastly I encourage all who read this post to google Carl Boonzaaier and have your life changed forever. One thing is that you are never to late to learn to play the piano. On that note let me tell it is very therapeutical and especially after a long day at work...
Carl is an excellent teacher with true passion for the piano, and the ability to inspire his students to see what is possible in a very short space of time.
Carl should not work with children! He is arrogant, not very understanding and speaks before he thinks!
