Plk game reserve is suitable for a day outing with the family, friends or just your partner for a quality time. The self drive game viewing is enjoyable and cheap! On 29th December 2020 the prices were R30 per adult, R24 for children under 18 and an additional R45 per vehicle. During the rainy season be careful of the muddy areas when driving a vehicle that is not 4x4. You can easily get stuck in mud that does not seem intimidating from your driver's seat. Unfortunately, there is no restaurant or shop where you can buy even drinks. So be sure to pack up on anything you will need in terms of food and drinks. There are several picnic areas, lapas and overnight accommodation that you can book for. I never used any of those facilities but based on previous reviews and notices posted at the reception, don't expect a lot from those services. For example, one notice in the reception area warns you about stoves that might not be working and then informs you that you cannot claim for a refund if you find the stove not working. The Plk game reserve has a lot of great potential. The place just needs a revamp in the systems and management. You can expect to see Giraffe, Eland, Gemsbok, Nyala, Warthog, Impala, Blue Wildebeest, Red Hartbeest, Black-backed Jackal, Waterbuck and of course plenty of Springbok. Apparently, they also have Rhino but never saw it Otherwise, I really recommend visiting the place if you just want to spend the day surrounded by nature.

Had an awesome experience at Polokwane game reserve. The reserve is located about 4kms from the City center. The entrance fees for 2020 were still at R24 for kids, R30 for Adults and R45 per Vehicle. Once you have paid the entrance fees, you may proceed and have a picnic braai, a self game drive, hiking or cycling inside the reserve. Group game Drives are also possible in a reserve Safari vehicle at R977 for a maximum of 20 people on that amount. They have two walking trails, a 21km and 4.6km. This way you get to enjoy watching animals in a close proximity whilst you are walking on foot. The reserve experience is ideal for the whole family.

Definitely a great place check out the abundance of wildlife that calls the Polokwane game reserve home. You can definitely have yourselves a braai and relax and enjoy the environment around you.

I did a lot of mountain biking in the reserve during my stay in Polokwane. Well maintained facilities, good roads and a good variety of animals. I just found that if you don't know the reserve, you will not easily get to where you want to go. Maybe they can improve the marking of the routes, especially mtb routes.

A nice little park to get a sample of African wildlife. Bring your own food for a picnic, there is no shop or anything else like that here.
