Firstly, Akeso is medical aid friendly. Most medical aids cover all the expenses included in a stay at Akeso, which amounts to more than R2500 per night. Group classes are eye-opening, helpful and a learning experience for people who are open to the experience. Art supplies are included in the costs. There is a gym that patients can use in the morning. Each room has it's own bathroom. The staff - from the kitchen, to the cleaners, nurses, receptionists and doctors - are friendly and seem to genuinely care about patients. I gained a lot from my stay there, including lifelong friendships. I'd recommend Akeso Arcadia for young adults and students; because most of the patients there fall into these categories, it's easier for them to connect with each other. Some critiques I have are: the only outside area to which patients have regular access is the smoking area; sometimes patients are given too much freedom, and may trigger or harm or even steal from one another; there isn't enough room for patients to move around; there's not enough room for visitors; and finally, the food is not great.

I was well taken care of. The COPE team I have learned a lot from you. I know myself and I will use the mechanisms learnt and imparted upon me to the best of my ability. I was always looking forward to attend your interesting sessions. Drs, nurses, staff thanks a lot.

The administration and its staff not so good and anything bad can happen while awaiting help or admission. That was a horrible 4 hour wait for my daughter to be taken in. When working with mental health you don't have to be rude and generalizing. More training needed for front face of the hospital.

Too much influence between patients when it should be monitored more closely. Patients should not get getting into relationships with each other. This should be prohibited as its deflects from the actual reason people go there.

Well thought out programmes with accomodating staff however the food needs a bit of variety and more flavour
