Delano’s Restaurant, which used to be situated in the Kollande Shopping Centre, was always a firm favourite when you were in the mood for fresh; authentic Italian food. The restaurant had a romantic and cosy feel to it and the waiters were always very friendly and helpful. Since they had moved to the Zambezi Junction in Montana park, we have not had a chance to visit them until one afternoon during the festive season. The new venue has a completely different ambiance, however we were glad that they had retained some aspects and décor from the previous shop. We were greeted and seated by a very friendly waiter. Not many patrons were visiting the restaurant that afternoon and most of the waiters occasionally passed us by, after about a 15 minute wait we were finally discovered by our real waiter who took our drinks order. For lunch we ordered a classic Sicilian pizza (Anchovy & Capers) as well as a Pora pizza (Chicken & Chorizo). After another hours wait our waiter came to apologize for the delay as their pizza oven was slow. When the food finally arrived it looked as if someone had drenched oil all over both the pizzas. The quality of the anchovy and capers on the Sicilian pizza was lovely and very tasty however one could only distinguish the different elements on the Pora pizza by its colour as nothing had any taste. After this experience we might just give the “new” Delano’s a skip when contemplating where to enjoy a delightful Italian lunch or dinner.
