Well worth a visit. This is my go to place for beer. I would also highly recommend their whiskeys.

When I read their story on the website, you appreciate the amount of work and dare that has gone into bringing the brewery to what it is today. Having started the brewery a little ahead of the rise of the Craft Beer craze, it has had to go through more difficult times than current younger breweries. On the plus side it now finds itself on the crest of the wave with a bunch of experience and infrastructure under its belt. The beer quality is very good and the fact that it supplies to Makro & all mayor bottle stores also goes a long way in setting it apart. We do however feel that this brewery needs to: 1. Have all their beers available in glass bottles. Glass Class. Plastic Slap-stick. You might be looked funny at bringing a 1 litre plastic bottle to a social event / presenting it as a gift. Also, beer keeps better in glass. 2. Consider a redesigning of its labels. Yes we get it, lots of sentiment went into the current labels but again, compare these to the labels of the competition. A big part of drinking craft beer is about holding the the (glass) bottle, looking at the label and reading the story. 3. The Brewery closes at 13:00 and a tasting requires a minimum of 8 people. If tasting could be done by a minimum of two people and at say until 5 in the afternoon, the Brewery could obtain much more exposure and visits. We sure hope we see the bottles of this fine brewery on SA shelves for many years to come !

One of the best places to get craftbeer in Pretoria. Not many will appreciate the plastic bottles they use to bottle their beer but it keeps the price down which is fine by me. Kallmeyer certainly has incredible skill and is an artist.

I like the IPA, and it gets better after a couple of weeks in the fridge before having it.

What a great Craft Brewery ! World class beers if you ask me. Lekker bier en lekker mense. I hear what the "Online Reviews" are saying regarding the plastic bottles. However, the brewery is known for their plastic bottles & while it certainly might not appear as classy as a glass bottle , you get more beer for your money. With the plastic bottle you can decide how much you want to drink & save the rest in the refrigerator. As for the labels, the Berghof, Dussel and Altstadt labels are in line with the Brewery's iconic Horse & Cart label. These labels speaks to the same culture & setting as the Brewery's label does. Obviously the Monk, Goblins Bitter and IPA labels will be in a different style to the others as they are not traditionally German beers. The labels are fine, but I agree a story each beer on the label won't hurt. This brewery is one of the few where you can actually buy from the Brewery directly - albeit only at specific times. The prices at the brewery are as much as 50% cheaper than you would pay for the same beer at a bottle store / Capital Craft. The staff are always friendly at the brewery and happy to help. Wiehan even once opened the door for me outside of their normal business hours, when I technically just missed the closing time. Finally I appreciate the fact that most of their beers are around 4% ALC. This means you can enjoy more beer before you have to start dealing with the "headache "(literally sometimes) of high alcohol content as you find with many other craft beers. Not many craft breweries offer such a wide range of beers. I look forward to exploring their liqueur & whisky range too !
