Dine-in
First visit in the new venue. Even better than before. Attentive, but not overbearing, service from Mike allowed us to enjoy the meal without having to worry about flagging down someone for assistance. Everything we ordered was perfectly cooked and creative. Duck breast with crispy duck pot stickers was a delicious new introduction (since the move from Parkhurst) and my wife's chicken curry (which I gratefully got to eat most of because my wife is a small eater and I most certainly am not) was just spicy enough for our taste and came with beautifully prepared poppadoms. Berry tart was packed with fruit and not too sweet, which even I (with my sweet tooth) appreciated. Coobs is making the most of a less than ideal venue and is more than worth the visit (and the car guard makes it feel safe).

I’m sure many people don’t know but Coobs which used to reside in Parkhurst on 4th avenue has reopened in Parktown North next to its sister restaurant Il Contadino. A few websites say they are permanently closed which is not true. So I thought I would let all you lovely people that they’re operating and their food is out of this world. Their decor is super funky. They have a super green wall at the back with hanging apples. Waiters are very friendly, COVID protocols are all in place and the service is brilliant. When we went the other night we opted for the Beef Tartare, and guys, I’m from Paris. It’s just as good as in France, but probably better presented than there. I also had the line fish served with bulgur wheat, marrow, Brussels sprouts, pea purée and parsley lemon butter. The rest of my table all had delicious meals, from the wild boar ragu and fresh pasta, to the chicken curry, wonton starter etc... I unfortunately didn’t take pictures of all of the other dishes. Their desserts were also delicious. Please note no money or free meals was received for this write up, I do not work for a marketing company. I just want to support this little gem.
Coobs is one of the finest restaurants in our country. Their menu is always exquisite and the food never fails to amaze. Their staff are always friendly and helpful and not once have I ever left with less than an incredible experience. Definitely worth it
Had high expectations, but the good really wasn't as good as it could have been. The setting is quite nice however.
Excellent cocktail selection and I would highly recommended the Curd and Whey drink if you like sweet cocktails. The tuna carpaccio starter is also a winner with fresh ingredients that work really well together. Main meals are big portions but very tasty. Definitely worth a visit.
A stunning little restaurant with quite a romantic ambience. Service wasn’t great as our waiter was more concerned with the other tables and seemed to forget about us. For mains I ordered the Beef Short Rib, and at R250 it’s a super pricey main. The beef was really tender and delicious, but I wasn’t a big fan of the sauce that came with it, I think the smoky flavour was a bit too potent. For dessert we had the Passionfruit Cheesecake, and I found the little cheesecake tart to be very dry and underwhelming. The strawberry and passionfruit ice creams were tasty though.
Excellent service and delicious food. Steak was well cooked and seasoned. However, the poached pears were a little under. Great atmosphere in the precinct with plenty restaurants. Parking is also constraint due to the number of restaurants.
Been visiting Coobs since 2014 and the food is always amazing. In a city with such a vast range of options for foodies, Coobs truly is one of the best.
